Hattiesburg woman donates house to help feed hungry

A Mississippi charity has received an unusual donation from a Hattiesburg resident.

WDAM-TV reports Extra Table was gifted a house-for-sale by Suzannah McGowan.

Following a presentation about the work that Extra Table is doing, McGowan offered to deed her rental property to the organization, making the sale amount for the home a donation to the organization. The property is in Hattiesburg and is currently on the market.

McGowan says proper diet and health have been her passion since she was young. When she heard of Extra Table and found out that 100 percent of any money raised would go to feed Mississippians, she said she knew she wanted to donate her property to the effort.

With McGowan’s donation, thousands of healthy meals could be provided for those in need.
